A business description of Matsumoto Trading is as follows. Our businesses can be broadly divided into three: cosmetic ingredients, safety testing services, and international business. Laboratories as a unique strength of Matsumoto Trading (Open Lab) support research and development and the commercialization efforts of each department. As an initiative for global expansion, we are accelerating the development of international business, primarily in Asia. We also contribute to the globalization of cosmetic ingredient manufacturers.

Personal Care Ingredients Department
We provide proposal-based services based on the latest trends in cosmetic ingredients and our unique formulations. We boast a wide lineup of products, from base ingredients to functional ingredients, and provide regulation and marketing information.
International Business Department
In response to the rising trade in ingredients between multiple countries, we have established overseas bases in Asia to respond promptly to domestic and overseas needs. We develop, export, and import new ingredients in Japan and other countries, propose ingredients tailored to conditions in each country, while pursuing other initiatives.
Food and Healthcare Department
We deal in a large number of highly distinctive ingredients, ready to support customers’ health food development with one-stop services for the process from ingredients to final products.
Safety Testing Department
We help obtain a wide range of data conforming to standards in Japan and other countries, ranging from data on safety confirmation of food to efficacy assessment (in vitro testing and human in vivo testing), in addition to data on cosmetic ingredients, cosmetics, and quasi drugs.
R&D Department
We create value through innovations and engage in collaborative activities with customers and suppliers. The activities include ingredient assessment, development of new ingredients, formulation development, provision of training for customers’ research workers, and basic research.
